Writing again

Late this past spring, my dear neighbor, friend, and mentor Lucille Singleton passed away.  It was through her death that I came to know her daughter-in-law Suzanne. We’ve known each other for years, but only in passing. As Suzanne and I are getting to know each other and nurturing this new friendship, I’ve been inspired to write in my blog again. Suzanne writes, among other things, a weekly inspirational blog called Snippets, www.snippetsinspiration.com, and although I can only aspire to be as good a writer as she, I do write a lot and either save it on my laptop or put it on Facebook.  So it seems proper that I resume my blogging with memories of that dear lady that we both love and miss so much.

As I was looking through my documents for writings to post, I came across an email from Mama Lucille that that she sent me last December. It was a sweet email acknowledging receipt of my first ever holiday newsletter and telling me of the happenings in her family. It began with “An update from # 7 is as follows” then followed with a paragraph with her family’s news. It ended with “Love, las”. She always signed her emails “LAS” (her initials), but this time wrote under that in parenthesis ‘mrs. Singleton’.  I always called her Mrs. Singleton, she always called me Pooh. But to me she was and will always be Mama Lucille.

RIP
