I love these ladies and what they bring to my world. They are witty and funny, successful and smart, creative and loving. I must confess that I can’t identify with their world because we live in such different worlds. They are much younger, stay-at-home moms, and yes the food thing. When I was their age, I had two kids in elementary school, worked a full-time-out-of-the-house job, and struggled to make ends meet (money and time). My obsession with food was how to make a quick, healthy and nutritious, meatless meal for my husband and my little ones in less than hour and present it on the table as lovely as I possibly could. Oh yes, and as non-fattening as I possibly could. We always had candles on the dinner table and cloth napkins. And on Friday nights we treated ourselves to pizza and board games on the family room floor.
Funny how the subject of food always brings family memories back. But I digress. As I read my lovely ladies’ blogs, I think “they are obsessed with food.” Alas, both ladies blog about food and Lady #2 even takes and posts photos of her food! Circle back to me… I am obsessed with food too! Gasp! Food has no place in my life, I say. I despise the smell of food (I open my kitchen window while I’m cooking, even in the frigid days of a February winter); I despise grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, and the time that consumes all of these chores. But my husband says that I’m the queen of the fast gourmet meal, and I do enjoy presenting him with a restaurant atmosphere in our humble dining room or kitchen table.
So my lovely ladies and dear friends, I admire your zest for food and cooking and I say cook on! It’s Saturday and my husband is away. I will go through this day without another thought of food or cooking and those smells that come with it, nutrition or weight gain. I shall go through my day water bottle in hand, smiling and carefree until my body cries out for nutrition and then I shall satisfy that need with a peanut butter and banana sandwich: quick and easy and smell-free!
p.s. The title of this blog is purely an attention-grabbing editorial headline ;)

Awww... and we love you for your heart, Merc... Your honest and beautiful heart. :)
You don't have to be a foodie to be my friend. I mean, it helps, but it's not a requirement.
I love the pic of John on your site. It's very natural. :)
Love, Em
i always light a candle for dinner and make sure we have cloth napkins and placemats, it helps us to be proud of our little home. me and john also like to play games in the evenings. a treat for us is pizza and wings, a show on discovery channel, and then play jeopardy or bookworm.
Lis, it's those little things that keep you sane, create memories, and allow you to focus on and trust God... because even when He seems far away, He is always right there.
