Christmas

Today I bear the weight of the world on my shoulders.

Yesterday one of my co-workers was layed off. He is 26 years old, extremely smart, funny, and a good friend. We hugged and cried and I felt so helpless.

The same day, another co-worker received I think it was 5 calls from friends and family that had lost their jobs. Our boss was told by his superiors that the company was initiating a 10% company-wide layoff immediately. The news headlines today say that more jobs were lost in November than in the past three decades.

Friends and family, the best gift you can give me is to find someone who has lost their job or is struggling to make ends meet, and give them a card for groceries and gasoline. If you don't know anyone, I know many.

The joy that I hold in my heart this Christmas is the gift of Christ, and the love and faithfulness of my husband, my daughters and their partners, my beautiful grandson, my extended family, and some very good friends.

May you be moved and blessed to share your blessings with those in need.

Oh, Mercy-

Dan and I lifted up the unemployed in prayer at dinner tonight because of your reminder. We have several friends who almost lost their job or have received demotions. Several in our church, I understand, have lost their jobs.

I'm so sorry for your friend. May God provide for him during this difficult time.

Thank you for your reminder to give gift cards. What a great idea!
