My two favorite charities

I've been working at Paul's Place on Saturday mornings through an organization called Art With a Heart. Paul's Place offers more than a dozen services and programs to low-income individuals and families in the Washington Village/Pigtown community of Baltimore, including meals, tutoring, and year-round programs for children (after school, Saturdays, and summers).

I'll be posting photos of our project... cleaning up and planting a "pocket park". The kids have been working on different arts and crafts to put at the park once we are finished. They made stepping stones, bird feeders, etc. It has been VERY HARD WORK cleaning up the little park, which is no bigger than our backyard. But the kids, especially the girls, have been working diligently every Saturday. What an amazing place this outreach is!

The other one is the Helping Up Mission, one of Baltimore's oldest non-profit organizations, which helps men in their efforts to overcome homelessness, alcoholism, drug addiction and mental illness. I came to know them years ago when the director participated in a summer program that the girls attended, Camp Wabanna.

If after you read about these you are so inclined to volunteer or provide financial support, please contact them directly.

I feel blessed and honored to be a part.
