Happy Thanksgiving!

Another year, another... turkey?!?!

I've cooked one turkey in my lifetime. Don't get me wrong, I love traditional Thanksgiving meals, they just don't love me. Additionally, those that know me well know that I don't like the smell of food, so the smell of baking turkey all day long is not something that I cherish. Thus, no Thanksgiving cooking at this household!

Thankfully, I have a mother-in-law that LOVES Thanksgiving and all the cooking and prepping that comes with it. And even though she promised me that she wouldn't be a martyr this year and would let us all know what to bring, when John asked this week the answer was the traditional "nothing dear." When I was talking to my neighbor Mrs. Singleton (who is in her 80's), she explained that it's hard to give up what you've been doing for so many years, plus it makes you feel "like you can still do it."

So we will make our way down the street to Nana Pat's house and enjoy the feast.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Mercy

What a wonderful thing - someone else to do the cooking who enjoys it and won't make you feel guilty! And that you can enjoy it and not make yourself feel guilty either, well, that is a thing of beauty! That is what family holidays should really be like, yes?
